Description of Research Interests

Dr. Hackett is a social gerontologist who primarily uses a qualitative lens to explore family caregiving, grief, and mourning in later life. Prior to joining the faculty at the 深夜看片 School of Aging Studies, she worked in state government and non-profit industry roles within the aging network. In these positions, she gained first-hand experience with educating and supporting older adults and family caregivers through local services and national evidence-based programs. Currently, Dr. Hackett teaches both undergraduate and graduate students in courses that center on human development, gerontological theory, social and physical aspects of aging, and death and dying. Dr. Hackett fosters learning by creating an engaging learning environment where she bridges education, research, and practice in order to improve the way that growing older is perceived and experienced.
