Dr. Yehia Y. Hammad passed away Nov. 18, 2025. For more than fifty years, Hammad advanced the fields of environmental and occupational health. He served as chair of the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health and as a longtime professor at the ÉîÒ¹¿´Æ¬ College of Public Health.

Public health agencies in the United Kingdom, several countries across Europe, Japan, and parts of North America have reported sharp week-over-week increases in cases driven by this subclade, signaling accelerated global spread.
