About Us
What is a Victim Advocate?
A victim advocate with the USF Center for Victim Advocacy and Violence Prevention (CVAVP) is a professional who provides trauma-informed, empowerment-based support tailored to each person鈥檚 needs and requests. This means we recognize the ways trauma can affect someone鈥檚 life and respond with compassion, care, and understanding while helping create a sense of safety. It also means we honor each person's right to make their own choices and provide clear information about possible next steps.
You can ask questions, explore your options, and receive support in a respectful, pressure-free environment. You do not have to file a report to access our services. CVAVP does not work for USF Police or any other law enforcement or USF reporting agency. Our advocates are designated as Victim Services Practitioners through the Florida Attorney General鈥檚 Office, reflecting specialized training and professional standards in victim services.
Access our Services page for more information on how we can support you, or schedule an appointment.
